Course Curriculum
This webinar will review the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) hospital Conditions of Participation (CoPs) for surgery, anesthesia and post-anesthesia care units (PACU), including the most commonly cited deficiencies and how to avoid them. Our program will cover important CMS memos that discuss medication management, IV, and safe opioid use. This will cover the changes to history and physicals (H&P) informed consent, safe injection practices, compounding and beyond use dates (BUDs) and more.
Are you confused as to what the final anesthesia standards are after four revisions in a two-year period? The speaker has authored a book on the CMS anesthesia standards and can provide you with clarity and specific answers to your questions. We will review how the CMS guidelines affect sedation done in the emergency department and GI lab, as well as the current interpretive guidelines regarding pre-anesthesia evaluations, post-anesthesia evaluation and anesthesia services. You will also learn the cause for delays of 10% of surgical procedure and how to avoid an average loss of $600,000 a year due to these delays. Continuing Education Credits
