Complying with Section 1557 – The Office for Civil Rights (OCR) and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital CoPs
Tuesday, June 25, 2019
10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Speaker:
Sue Dill Calloway President Patient Safety and Health Care Education and Consulting

The price for the webinar is $295 per phone line.

Course Curriculum Ms. Calloway will review the law that applies to all hospitals, including critical access hospitals, physician offices and nursing homes. This new law addresses civil rights laws for healthcare providers and others and addresses nondiscrimination, required signs and notices, interpreters, including additional information found under Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act. This law builds on long standing and familiar Federal civil rights laws and is the first law to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex (which includes gender, gender identity and sex stereotyping) in covered health programs and activities.

Additionally, our speaker will review the CMS proposed changes to the hospital conditions of participation (CoPs) and proposed changes under the Hospital Improvement Rule, and share resources and case scenarios to help participants meet the education requirements to ensure they know and follow this law.
